How has internet helped students?
How has mesh helped students?IntroductionInternet is one of the most chief(prenominal) inventions in the past twenty years. The display of the lucre made our lives become much more colorful and besides made us feel much nigher with each new(prenominal). It is easily to make a video c exclusively with our relatives and friends who argon thousands of miles away within only a few seconds. Today, internet has penetrated into any receding in every industry in this article I will mainly focus on how has the internet helped students in education. It poop be express that the application of the internet in education is already very extensive, such as online distance education, Internet resources for education and so on. In this article I will talk about the following aspectsFirst part is online gos in this part I will both talk about online education and online tutoringSecondly, I am going to describe how students office internet as a research tool to find informationStudents in gestion it as a preservation toolStudents use internet as a communication medium with teachers or other studentsFinally I am going to give a new programme which brings to internet education.Online courses Online learning, Online tutoringDefinitionLearning by distance has been available for over 100 years yet it has increased dramatically with the appearance of the Internet. (Phillips, B. (2003), pp, 3)So the online courses were invented. 40 years ago distribute University offered the first online courses. During the suffer 40 years online courses has been improved greatly. At present date online courses atomic number 18 very familiar all over the world. Online courses should been separated into two parts, one is online learning another is online tutoring. As contribution to Wikipedia have suggested, online learning is a term which is commonly used. or so frequently it seems to be used for distance education, with no face-to-face interaction. Online tutoring refers to the p rocess of tutoring within an online virtual environment or networked environment where teachers and scholars are separated by metre and space (Bates, A. W. (1997) http//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/On-line_tutoring)Goals and benefits of online coursesReducing environmental impactPeople who take part in the online courses dont need to travel every day, thus it reduces the overall coulomb output indirectly. In the fact it also allows the decrease of paper usage, so that a plenty of trees could live on. With online tests instead of paper tests and online assessments instead of paper assessments, online courses are a more environmentally friendly education method.Fees much cheaperAs last point said you dont need to travel every day, as a result you can save a self-aggrandising number of travelling expenses. Whats more compared with the high cost of tuition fees in school the cost in online courses are much lower. Take Brighton School of Business Management as an example let us look at the picture 1 we can find that most online courses fees are only around 2000. It is much cheaper than the normal courses such as my MSc degree tuition fee about 13700. It sincerely can save a large number of money.Convenience and flexibility to learnersGenerally speaking, for the part- condemnation or full-time job workers and some disabled volume they are impossible to be reeducated. They cannot go to the class because time is not allowed. While after the appearance of online courses, the dream of those people comes true. In many contexts, online courses are self-paced and the learning sessions are available 24*7. Learners are not demand to attend classes in a specific day time. They can also go learning sessions at their convenience.Research tool find informationWith the development of the internet, people get information more and more easily. In the past if psyche wants to read books or find some specifically information. They always need to borrow reference books from library or buy new books and magazines. Its a large spending and also not convenience you have to remember when you need to return them. However, those things would not happen if you use the internet sources. at one timeadays people especially the student use the internet as a research tool very frequently. We can find all the information we want online from daily things to pedantic books. Google the most famous online search engine, it has more than 100 language and we can also use the advanced search for academic learning. Whats more, I think every university has a mass of online resource for the particular subject. For instance in the university of Sheffield we have a powerful network resources. Its known as the MUSE (picture 2). So wheresoever we are, we still can get almost all the information about our subjects as long as we can access the internet.Delivery ToolWhat is online spoken language? One of the most all-embracing definitions is made by Tony Bates. He said it is a Student-ce ntered education approach, which contains a number of technologies, in order to make the application and communication opportunities asynchronously and synchronously. This model is based on mass selection and appropriate technology in the campus, open Learning systems and distance education. This approach allows teachers determine the learning environment flexibly to meet the different needs of Students, and at the meantime provides high-quality and cost-effective Learning. (Bates, A. W. (1997), pp, 98 99)Benefits of online deliveryIn this part I will use the online delivery to compare with the traditional delivery, so that we can find the benefits clearly.Firstly, we can focus on all over the world such as choosing courses which is offered by other countries. Secondly, online delivery is available in everywhere at anytime instead of going to school at a specific time. Whats more we can all learn in interest, I think student can study a subject best when they are interested in it. Last but not least it also gives the disabled student and staffs. They get a good chance to be re-educated.Case study of online delivery Open UniversityOpen University is one of the oldest universities which offer online courses. subsequently about 40-years development, its online course system is very perfect. Next I will take the Open University as an example to relieve the online courses. How do you apply for entryAccording to the Official Website (http//www.open.ac.uk/new/apply-for-entry.shtml), For most courses, you dont need to apply for entry. You simply register for the course you want to take. How do you containFirst of all, you have to choose the subject you want, you will find an overall situation about the subject such as the starting date, the ending date, fees, course offering and so on. Then you Register your course and pay it by card. Finally you will get your username and password. How do you learnEvery time you household in to the OU website you can access to th e home page of your course. Now you can begin to study online. You can make a suitable studying schedule. After that you take the online classes, and discuss with teachers or classmates online, or hand on your homework online etc., it is very convenient.Communication medium with teachers or other studentsCommunication is the most serious and also the most basic human activity in our daily lives. You need to communicate with others from waking up in the morning to going to hit the hay in the evening, unless you always stay at home and not use the telephone, while it is impossible. For students the communication between teachers and students is the premise of studying well. Before we have internet we could only touch with teacher at school. It was really restricted. If we had some problem after class, we only had to wait until the class began again on the next day. Students pinched a lot of time on waiting. However, on these days with the help of the internet our communication becom es more and more convenient. From now on the class is not only in the classroom, but also it extends to everywhere at anytime. E-mail is the most widely used communication medium among student teacher and other classmates. It doesnt matter when you havent finished your work on time in class or if you didnt understand a certain question. You can send them to your tutor by E-mail immediately when you finish them. For instance in Christinas class (my summer school academic writing teacher in University of Sheffield) we are always asked to bring out a short article in class and check by Christina one by one. While time is usually limited, so at that time the rest of us would be asked to send the articles to her by E-mail. It is very efficient and can save time. Of courses there are other methods to communicate such as online chat, Skype and MSN. They are all very useful.New plan brings to internet educationAt last I want to give you a new plan of my own opinion which I think will assis t the development of the internet education. That is using the online tutoring when the student graduated from the primary school instead of the mall school. Maybe some people think that this suggestion is absurd, but I believe that some day in the future it will come true. Now I am going to explain why I have such idea. There are several possible reasons.First of all, adapt to the internet education ahead of schedule. In real life, students usually use internet to help study when they came to college or university. That is good but it brings some drawbacks to them. They dont know how to use the internet correctly. A lot of students plagiarizing from internet result in lose their marks. And also some students dont how to research the information they want, so that they dont believe internet is a good learning method. The information on internet is not always healthy. There are some violent and pornographic information. For many people, this is the first time they contact with Interne t so closely especially the student in developing countries they cannot withstand the temptation and misleading information. Internet cannot have the desired effect. superior high school and university study are both very important, it seems important that we need to cultivate a most efficient learning methods before this period, so secondary school is the best period of time. Whats more high school students have strong ability to accept new things and there are not many rebellious thoughts. So do you agree with me now?ConclusionAs we can see from the report internet is playing an increasingly important role in our lives. Because internet is connivance, fast, secure and necessary, if you are always working and studying in primitive way, it will be more and more unable(p) and uncompetitive. We need to learn and have a good use of the internet in our study it really helps you a lot. As a person also a student who is living in the new age we have the responsibility to use and create ne w technologies. That is the requirement of social development. At last I enumerate several suggestionsIt is a good idea to use internet in your studyNever spend too much time on internetLearn to distinguish right from wrongReferenceBates, A. Implementation of a Palmprint Recognition System
Implementation of a Palmprint Recognition SystemCHAPTER -VI6. CONCLUSION SCOPE OF FUTURE WORKThere are some key aspects to plow about this thesis in general. First, it is measurable to mention that the main objective of this work implementation of a typewriter ribbonprint recognition system was successfully accomplished. Biometrics plays an important role in soulfulnessal identification. The importance of biometrics in everyday life has been discussed and different biometric technologies are introduced. It has been shown that palm can also be a good biometric. The work reported in this thesis is summarized in this chapter. This Research trim pro perplexd a novel approach for Palmprint Biometric Authentication System to identify the individuals found on their palmprints. The approach novelty could be found in the combinations between palmprints forms transform techniques, features reduction technique and feed-forward neural network classifier. CASIA pre-processed hyperspec tral database and MATLAB version 2016a with supporting toolboxes were apply in our experiment work. Firstly, each pre-processed palmprint assure has read by MATLAB internal function, and it has transformed by using multiscale toolboxes in order to convert each image into data. The resulted data is projected by dimensionality reduction tool. Finally, neural network toolbox used for recognition training and verification the resulted vectors. We manually prepare proposed Gabor Wavelet and local Binary Pattern function along with all Other function in MATLAB 2016 and a database of 200 palm images of 20 people is considered for the validation. This Thesis Work considers a novel and efficient method for the palmprint identification based on Gabor wavelet by using multi-block local binary blueprints. Proposed method is just supervise through our proposed multi-layer feed-forward neural network for more accu gait and computationally efficient recognition. Gabor wavelets efficiently fil ter the pre-processed image for getting optimum texture features through MB-LBP. delinquent to accurate feature representation of palm images through proposed LBP, anticipated MLFFNN training rate is high and we are getting much accurate results comparatively.Experiments are performed to book an analysis for the optimal palm region and LBP neighbourhood. We investigate the matching accuracy for the optimal parameters. The performance of the proposed method in term of accuracy and some other(a)wise parameters is obtained and compared with some recent methods. These local characteristics are summed and orientation corresponding maximum local intensity pattern is conceded as optimal local direction. Micro pattern representation is obtained by LBP descriptor. Feature vector is prepared by histograms of 256 bins. In our proposed scheme we use the Gabor wavelets, which has wavelet like property, in orthogonal direction and smoothest contours. orientation course optionion is done opt imally to get directional representation and feature size is reduced by extracting LBP histograms. Accuracy of Proposed system is about 99.6% and error rate is below 0.9%.Compared to other existing method proposed method provides robustness to noise, low complexity and small features length. Secondly 3x 3 direction pattern employed which extract the edge characteristics locally. Direction pattern further emphasis edge orientation and filter out non edges along irrespective direction of pattern. Local aggregation gives high value (Local Intensity) at particular orientation. So, the competition for maximum local intensity can better select the orientation information. Secondly orientation information is non affected by intensity variations. Because of these reasons, it is obvious that our method is performing well. In this palm print recognition system, features such as region mask, orientation playing field and minutiae are being extracted. An efficient matching algorithm is bein g implemented which uses these features for comparison of the query palm print with the database. Hence this system tests the image with the database and checks if the person is authenticated or not. This authentication system can be used in forensic science and other border control systems for authentication of palm prints. the proposed work is also tested on colour RGB (multi-dimensional) images and real time palm images.Further WorksFor future work, the combinations between another multiscale image mutation such as , , and other will be proposen in addition to use alternative features reduction methods such as ICA, kernel PCA and other contemporary techniques are suggested to be used. In addition, the classifier type is suggested to change to show how the recognition accuracy could be improved.Although cancellable biometrics overcome the weakness of cryptography, occurrent cancellable biometrics are still not secure enough for the palmprint identification. For example, attack ers can still insert stolen templates replay and database attacks before systems can cancel the stolen templates and reissue new templates. Furthermore, current cancellable biometrics cannot detect replay and database attacks. In other words, if attackers insert unregistered templates into data links or databases, systems cannot discover the unregistered templates. To solve these problems, we can take advantages of cryptography and cancellable biometrics to design a set of security measures to prevent replay, brute force and database attacks for secure palmprint identification. One could improve the registration accuracy and the image combination process. A detailed study needs to be done on the effect of adding more frames for combination. This method could also be combined with the pose correction approach developed in the previous algorithm to make a robust system with further improved accuracy. In addition to these further directions, biometric researchers are in fact facing some open problems. Most biometric systems are examined only on zero effort attacks (general false acceptance rates). Do they still survive if experts attack them? Furthermore, how can we objectively evaluate and compare the security levels of biometric systems? It should be recognized that successfully jailbreak into biometric systems depends on money, time and knowledge. Biometric researchers are facing a dilemma. As we write everything to disclose our findings and algorithms for the sake of distributing knowledge to our society and the next generation, we are also providing the information that potential attackers require breaking into our systems. Analysis :: Science Writing Papers
Analysis We scientists move no longer leave the problem to others. Indeed, it has been ours to solve, and all of society is now paying for our neglect. Resistance to skill is born of fear. Fear, in turn, is bred by ignorance. And it is ignorance that is our deepest malady. These were some of the strong statements made in Michael J. Bishops Enemies of Promise, that lead me to think and analyze his piece of work. Michael Bishop, a professor of microbiology at University of California, San Francisco, begins his hold by stating that even though science has solved many of the problems people have or had, there are still many who do not call up in science. In addition, there are people who study science and think that science is just politics by other means. Thus, declaring that science and its truths are just socially constructed fictions. Bishop believes that science offers more to us than we think and that it is the best way to learn how the world works. Garcia 2 Bishop is alarmed a bout postmodernists, who believe science is just another politics by other means. He thinks they are being ignorant and feels uneasy that postmodernists are being joined by other voices that are against science. Various scientists are also becoming critical of science and they believe that science is not diminishing the societies problems. Others have complained that science is no longer contributing to health improvement. Some people are not happy with what science has accomplished. The source of these dissatisfactions appears to be an exaggerated view of what science can do, claims Bishop. What seems to be the case is that, scientists have declared the problems of the society and have told the society what to do about some of the issues, but it is the society that is not tackling the problems. The other plight that faces the science is that, sometimes scientists have no control over their seek and they have to let research take its own course and time. Much of the health proble ms that have not been solved are being blamed on research systems like NIH (National Institutes of Health) that supposedly demands compromise, rewards mediocrity and actually punishes initiative and originality. Bishop believes that NIH, a research system he has been in support of, is being put down and what is said about NIH, he believes it to be wrong.

The Ruin Skipping, yelling the sunlight poured through the trees onto their exquisite happy faces. eye twinkling, gleaming with joy. Long brunette shimmery hair bouncing with each step. I remember... Each hot summer day seemed endless picnics, playing house, dolls, applying make-up. Alyssa and Ashley were sisters more than than that, they were best friends. They each had a spray of freckles across cute little turnip noses, grins that would light up a room. Everyday they would grab snacks putting them into their preferred blankets, small enough that their little hands could hold. After stuffing their favorite foods into their blankets they journeyed to a beautiful pocket billiards near a mile away from the house. in that respect they played and swam for hours on end. Every direction the female childs looked flowers of all colors bloomed mostly black-eyed susans. When the wind blew blew just right, the trees would sway all over the pond creating ripples in the water . The beach was cover with pebbles. The sound of laughter was everywhere. One of the neighbors had given the girls a row boat to play with in the water. The girls would jump from military position to side rocking the boat until it almost tipped, it was a sight. One hot afternoon, Ashley felt sick. Her mother made her stay in bed, while Alyssa was to go outside so she wouldnt become sick too. Not quite an sure what to do she ventured down the road. As she walked, she collected an assortment of wild flowers sprays of yellows, pinks and whites. She ended up at the pond where her sister and she had played so umteen times before. Vague Descriptions in Joseph Conrads Heart of Darkness Essay examples
Vague Descriptions in Heart of Darkness A dark, unfamiliar setting and a suspenseful plot give Heart of Darkness the characteristics of a good novel, but what really stands out is Conrads writing. The story is full of vague imagery and descriptions that the reader must contemplate in order to fully understand. compose so vividly was an impressive feat for Conrad, who was actually non a native English speaker. (Dintenfass) His style includes a great deal of subtlety and complexity. Although it may seem as if Conrad was trying to confuse the reader, his actual goal was to create a work of art, rather that just a novel. Several critics have mould down Conrads work because his writing is so vague they claim that it lacks order and clarity. Conrad occasionally wrote back to these critics and explained why he chose to construct his stories in such a vague manner. Says Professor Mark Dintenfass, commenting on Conrads own opinion about his writing For Conrad then, as for most modern a rtists, the world as we experience it is not the sort of place that can be reduced to a se...

Exercise in a Bottle Essay -- Health Diet Weight Loss Papers
Exercise in a BottleImagine that it is a Friday night and you are up having a little midnight snack and watching whatever television. Feeling guilty for eating at such a late hour, you begin to flip through the stations when something catches your eye. It is an infomercial, and usually you just flip regenerate through these, but for odd some reason you decide to watch this one. How could you possibly resist not watching? The commercial begins by showing beautiful blondes in bikinis, and buff studs in speedos stuffing their faces with hamburgers, pizza, chips and everything that you know should not be eaten in quantity (if at all) The amazing thing is that these people all postulate societys ideal bodies. They are toned, tan, and thin in all of the right habitations. The commercial proceeds to boast how these women and men never exercise. They dont need to because they take Enformas Exercise in a Bottle Well now they have gotten your attention--look great, eat what you want and never exercise? It sounds office too good to be true This is what miracle product, Exercise in a Bottle, will promise its potential buyers. But the questions, how does it work, what are they and how do its ingredients work, does it work, and are in that location any side effects are all key questions to be explored before taking Exercise in a Bottle. After I byword the commercial one night when I was up late snacking with my best friend, I admit that I was definitely tempted to pick up the phone and place an order. I even came close to falling into all of the hype and excitement surrounding this new product when I began my research, but after seeing a more scientific approach to the product, I have changed my mind.
